About NIBRT
National Institute for Bioprocessing
Research and Training
- The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) is a global centre of excellence for training and research in bioprocessing.
NIBRT is located in a new, world class facility in Dublin, Ireland. This facility is purpose built to closely replicate a modern bioprocessing plant with state of the art equipment.
- NIBRT arose from an innovative collaboration between University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and the Institute of Technology, Sligo.
NIBRT was primarily funded by the Government of Ireland through Ireland’s inward investment promotion agency, IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency), which is responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland.

01. NIBRT Mission
Mission is to support the biopharmaceutical industry by providing a unique learning experience for trainees in an environment that replicates the most advanced industrial bioprocessing facility. In parallel, we also undertake leading edge research in key areas of biopharmaceutical manufacturing in collaboration with industry and academia.

Culture is summarized by “CIRCLES” logo which represents the interdependency between our three main areas of activity; training, research and operations.
“CIRCLES” is also an acronym for our seven value statements of Collaboration, Innovation, Respect, Client focus, Learning organization, Excellence and Safety.

03. NIBRT Training
NIBRT provides a “one stop shop” for the bioprocessing Industry’s training requirements.
Aim is to deliver holistic training programmes in a realistic GMP simulated, operational biopharma manufacturing environment.

04. NIBRT Educational Programmes
NIBRT’s unique bioprocessing training facility allows undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to learn and practice complex technical bioprocessing procedures and to enhance their skills using the most modern equipment and facilities available.

05. NOA (NIBRT ONLINE ACADEMY)
The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) has launched its first fully online learning platform, the NIBRT Online Academy. NOA is designed to assist the skills and career development of those involved in biopharma manufacturing.
